Brandon, MN — The Win E Mac Patriots opened up their season on Friday night with a 22-12 victory over the newly formed Co-Op of Ashby-Brandon-Evansville.

Early season rust showed for both teams at the start of the game as they traded turnover on downs on their opening possessions. A-B-E would get on the board first thoughts with a three minute drive that was capped off with a 4 yard touchdown run by Junior Quarterback Micah Fuller. The Pats punted on their ensuing possession and their defense forced one as well getting the ball back to the offense and letting Senior and Bemidji State University Commit, Ryan Kansas take a 70 yard run to the house and take the lead 8-6 after a successful 2-pt conversion. A-B-E would then punt and turn the ball over on downs before scoring one more time to end the first half. This time by way of Senior Running Back Logan Haburn. And the Bolts took a 12-8 lead into the half.

In the second half it was all Win E Mac. The Patriots began the second half scoring with a 25 yard touchdown run by Quarterback Braylon Hamre and the Patriot defense forced a fumble, punt and turnover on downs on the only three second half possessions for A-B-E. The final nail in the coffin was Ryan Kansas taking a 70 yard punt return back for a touchdown, punching in the 2-pt conversions making it 22-12 and winning by that final score.

The Patriots start the season 1-0 and will play at home next week against the Fosston Greyhounds for homecoming.
