Joe Courneya scored 37 points as Win-E-Mac battled to a 72-64 victory over Climax-Fisher Monday night in Climax.
In a game full of runs, Climax-Fisher overcame an early 8-2 deficit with a 10-0 burst to take their first lead at 10-8. The Knights would eventually lead 25-16 before Win-E-Mac went on a 10-0 run of their own and the Patriots led at halftime 34-30.
Behind Courneya’s shooting and a 14 point second half by Braylon Hamre, Win-E-Mac would take the lead with under 7:30 to play and hold on to that lead for their second victory over Climax-Fisher this season.
Courneya made 6 three-point baskets and also made 9 of 10 free throws to lead the Patriots (6-11). Hamre scored all 14 of his points in the second half.
Tyler Evitts led Climax-Fisher (4-11) with 23 points, with teammates Dustin Carl and Gabe Wentzel adding 16 apiece. Carl also had two blocked shots and a strong game rebounding.
Win-E-Mac had the rebounding advantage 47-36 with 15 offensive rebounds to the Knights’ 12.
Climax-Fisher had 8 turnovers to Win-E-Mac’s 17.
Free throw shooting made a big difference as the Patriots made 19 of 30 and Climax-Fisher 8 of 21.
Win-E-Mac travels to Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Thursday; Climax-Fisher plays at Mahnomen-Waubun on Thursday.
