Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami beat the Win E Mac Patriots 86-59 in their season opener on Tuesday night. It was a tale of two halves for the Falcons as some lackluster shooting saw the Falcons in a deadlock at 34-34 with the Patriots at the half. Win E Mac would drill two 3-pointers to take a 40-36 lead. At that point, the Fertile-Beltrami offense would explode and go on a 32-5 run taking a 68-45 lead and putting the game out of reach and the Win E Mac momentum was taken away. The Falcons lead would be reduced to 19 a few times but after their big run, the game was never in question and the game would end 86-59. The Falcons win would also be the 500th career win for Head Coach Neil Steffes.

Fertile-Beltrami begins their season 1-0 and will play Stephen-Argyle on Saturday at the UMC Basketball Extravaganza. All games from UMC on Saturday will be on 1480 AM/99.7 FM KKCQ and on YourLiveEvent.com. Win E Mac falls to 1-1 and will play in the Fosston holiday tournament beginning on Thursday.
