Fosston, MN —  The Win‑E‑Mac Patriots played a hard‑nosed, physical brand of football Friday night, powering their way to an impressive 28-8 victory over rival Fosston.

Fosston opened the game from its own 24-yard line but managed only 15 yards and a single first down. Facing an early fourth and short at their own 39, the Greyhounds went for it, but the attempt failed, giving Win‑E‑Mac prime field position at the Fosston 39. The Patriots capitalized quickly, marching downfield and punching in a 3-yard Jayden Haugen touchdown to take an 8-0 lead.

The Greyhounds’ second possession stalled, resulting in a punt, and Win‑E‑Mac’s offense stayed in rhythm. Late in the first quarter, Nathaniel Spry connected with Nick Schow for a 31‑yard touchdown strike, extending the advantage to 14-0. Fosston answered immediately on the ensuing kickoff, as Garrett Folkert electrified the home crowd with an 80-yard return for a touchdown, trimming the deficit to 14-8. Both defenses tightened from there, and Win‑E‑Mac carried the six‑point lead into halftime.

The Patriots looked poised to make a statement with the opening drive of the second half, but Fosston’s defense delivered a three‑and‑out. The Greyhounds then mounted a long, grinding drive that began at the 10:18 mark of the third quarter and stretched all the way to the final minute of the period, but Win‑E‑Mac’s defense held firm, keeping Fosston out of the end zone.

From that point on, Fosston’s offense struggled to generate momentum, and the Patriots seized control. Austin Langseth delivered the knockout blows with a pair of rushing touchdowns, first from 12 yards out, then a 40‑yard burst, pushing the lead to 28–8 and sealing the win.

Win‑E‑Mac improves to 3-0 for the first time since 2019 and will host Fertile‑Beltrami next Friday for its homecoming game. Fosston falls to 2-1 and returns home next week to face Stephen/Argyle in its own homecoming matchup.
