In the first set, Red Lake Falls started quickly scoring the first 4 points. That wouldn’t be their only run though, as later they would have an 8-0 run to make it 16-5 and they kept their foot on the gas pedal accelerating to a dominate 25-10 set one victory.
In the second set, the Eagles rode the momentum from the first set and just chipped away with a handful of 3-0 and 4-0 runs. They kept Win-E-Mac’s scoring to a minimum again before taking the 2-0 match lead after winning by 11 25-14.
In the third set, Red Lake Falls again jumped out to a sizable lead up 13-7. This is when a brand new Win-E-Mac team showed up. The Patriots went on a 6-0 run to tie it up at 13. The two teams would find themselves tied up 4 more times throughout the remainder of the set, but Win-E-Mac didn’t get their first lead until it was 26-25, and they were able to get the second consecutive point to capture the 3rd set 27-25. The 8th grader Addy Morgenroth got 5 of her 15 kills in the 3rd set.
In the fourth set, Win-E-Mac played like how Red Lake Falls did in the first two sets and flexed their dominance muscle. The Patriots started swinging away and got a hand on almost all of the Eagles swing attempts as they ran away with the 4th set 25-14 and had a reverse sweep in mind.
In the fifth set, Red Lake Falls found their groove again scoring the first 4 points of the set and would hold a 7-1 lead shortly after. Win-E-Mac didn’t go away without a fight though. They slowly chipped away at the lead, but found themselves down 13-8, but thanks to a great service run by Ensley Haskett, which included 2 aces, the Patriots scored 4 points in a row to bring it within 1 at 13-12. Red Lake Falls finally put an end to the Haskett service run and took the next two points to escape with a win in their regular season finale. Red Lake Falls’ Halle Seegar starred in the final set by getting 5 kills and an ace.
