Thief River Falls, MN — The Red Lake County Rebels beat the Win E Mac Patriots 87-39 in the Section 8A Boys Basketball Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon.

Win E Mac was able to hang with the defending section champs for a large portion of the first half and were within striking distance 30-24 with seven minutes to play. But Red Lake County was hot shooting the basketball led by Senior Nick Suchy who nailed six of his school record breaking nine 3-pointers in the first half and that resulted in the Rebels going on a 23-6 run in the final seven minutes and leading 53-30 at halftime.

Red Lake County cruised in the second half allowing just nine Win E Mac points. Red Lake County went onto win 87-39.

The Rebels are now 26-3 overall with the win and will play the Northern Freeze in the Section Semifinals on Wednesday at 6pm.
