Fertile City Council Meets
FERTILE, MN—The Fertile City Council made a renewed push to hire an administrator for the City-owned Fair Meadow Nursing Home at Monday night’s Council meeting. Fertile Mayor Brian Nephew says the nursing home’s advisory board made a suggestion that would fill a position that’s been open since Angie Leiting resigned under duress in June 2023.
The City Council voted to place advertisements in local newspapers and on websites for university and community college recruitment. Nephew says the nursing home’s advisory board had another suggestion.
The Fertile City Council will adopt that second idea if no candidates emerge for the administrator’s job.
During the public comments section of Monday’s meeting, a Fertile resident read a list of what she called 23 problems noted with the City’s administration. They range from violations of the Minnesota Open Meeting law to false accusations against former Fair Meadow Nursing Home administrator Angie Leiting to hiring a City maintenance worker at a special meeting called July 10 with no public notice. There was no response from the City Council or City Administrator Lisa Liden.
