Fire Safety Advice

With the bitterly cold temperatures this week, there’s a greater risk of fire danger.  Ada Fire Chief Steve Petry says using fireplaces and using electricity for things like Christmas lights and space heaters can increase your risk of a fire. 

Petry says space heaters can keep you warm, but they can also  be a safety hazard.

For those of you with a fireplace, Petry says you should only burn what’s recommended to put in a fireplace.

Petry points out another thing you should check: that your vents are clear.

Taking a few minutes to check on these things can help you get through the cold weather safely.
