Fischbach comments on $14.3 billion Israel bill
The United States House of Representatives passed the Security Supplemental Appropriations Act yesterday by a vote of 226-196 which is a bill that will see $14.3 billion in emergency supplemental appropriations going to Israel to provide military assistance.
Soon after Minnesota’s 7th District Representative Mischelle Fischbach said that, “This emergency supplemental package is critical to supporting Israel as they defend themselves against terrorism. It would reinforce the Iron Dome defense systems, replenish Israel’s domestic defense stockpiles, and protect U.S. citizens. Furthermore, the bill respects taxpayer dollars, as it is offset by rescinding funding for the IRS that would increase their ability to audit working class families. I commend my colleagues for putting forward thoughtful legislation. I urge the Senate and the President to work quickly to pass this bill into law and support our allies.”
The Bill will move to the Senate next where its future is uncertain due to pushback from the Democratic party who want to pass a bill that includes funding for Ukraine, humanitarian aid to Gaza, and Israel. The White House has also threatened to veto the bill if it makes it to the President’s desk.
