Fisher Referendum Meeting

Fisher Referendum Meeting

July 23, 2025 News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

There was a public meeting in Fisher Tuesday evening to discuss an upcoming referendum for the Fisher School District.  There will be a special election August 12 to raise the District’s operating levy by $1253.90 per pupil each year over the next ten years.  Fisher Superintendent Evan Hanson tells us why the levy increase is needed.

Hanson says the increase would be about $60 a month on the property taxes for a $200,000 home.  But the new total would still be less per student than school districts like Red Lake Falls or Goodridge.

Voters in Fisher have voted down referendums in each of the last two years. Last year’s referendum failed by just 25 votes.   The special election in Fisher will be August 12.  Voting will be in person only, but absentee ballots are available at the Fisher School office Monday through Thursday.
