Fosston Area Sportsman’s Club Receives $25,000 Grant

FOSSTON, MN—The Fosston Area Sportsman’s Club is going to help get young people interested in fishing.  Kim Rue with the Sportsman’s Club says her group hit the jackpot when applying for a state grant.

Rue says an event last year involving sixth grade students in Fosston is a key part of this story.

32 of the 37 sixth graders caught fish that day, with several catching more than one fish.  Rue and the Fosston Area Sportsman’s Club plan to use that $25,000 grant to have an annual day when grade school students learn how to fish.

Rue says there are plans for a fishing event for elementary students on August 16.  Kim Rue was a recent guest on KKCQ’s Food For Thought program, which airs weekday mornings at 8:45 on KKCQ-FM, 96.7.
