Fosston doctor honored

ST. PAUL, MN—A doctor from Fosston is one of three health care professionals who will receive a Minnesota Rural Health Award this week.  Dr. Wesley Ofstedal, the medical director of Living Center at Essentia-Health-Fosston, is receiving the Rural Health Lifetime Achievement Award for his devotion to his patients and his focus on geriatric care and preventive medicine.  Dr. Ofstedal reacts to the award.

Dr. Ofstedal began working in Fosston in 1981 and has remained there for his entire career. He says it was his goal to work in a rural area.

Dr. Ofstedal says he’s concerned about rural hospitals closing..and has a solution.

Dr. Ofstedal will be recognized November 17 as part of National Rural Health Day.  He will also be honored at the 2023 Minnesota Rural Health Conference in Duluth next June 12th & 13th.
