Fosston Woman Dies In Early Morning Accident

CLAY COUNTY, MN—A woman from Fosston is dead and a man from Sisseton, South Dakota has life-threatening injuries after an early morning accident in Clay County.  The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 1:40am Friday in the 10000 block of 90th Avenue North.  Deputies and EMTs were sent to the area after an automatic crash notification was sent by a cell phone.  Dispatchers say they heard what sounded like moaning in the background.  The deputies found a vehicle with two people inside that had left the road and struck a power pole.  The 19-year-old passenger, a woman from Fosston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, a 21-year-old man from Sisseton, South Dakota, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Names will not be released until next of kin is notified.
