Foster Homes Needed in Polk County
Polk County Social Services is seeking foster parents There is a foster home shortage in the county due to 11 homes closing in 2021. Currently there are 33 homes in Polk county and 11 of those are relative related. There is the most need for foster homes in the eastern part of the county. In Minnesota foster care and other child welfare programs are provided through county and tribal agencies. In most cases these agencies first seek potential foster parents from the child’s family and natural support network. When that’s not possible, they seek to maintain a child in their community, including maintaining their school.
