Gary School Meeting

GARY, MN—Over 20 people gathered in Gary Tuesday night to talk about what to do with the old Gary School gym.  The gym, which was damaged by vandalism, costs about $10,500 per year to maintain for insurance, electricity and heating.  Not only is the gym floor damaged, but the roof also needs repairs.  An estimate from a local contractor found it would cost $95,000 to fix the roof.  Gary Mayor Buck Engen says a first step was taken at Tuesday’s meeting.

Engen says several choices on what to do with the building were suggested.

Engen says the committee is to report its findings on available grants to the Gary City Council in May.
