GONVICK, MN—A Gonvick man has been charged with five crimes, including felony assault with a dangerous weapon after a domestic violence incident this past Friday.  41-year-old Skyler Allen Robinson was charged in Polk County District Court with second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault by strangulation, misdemeanor domestic assault, threats of violence and possessing ammunition while using a controlled substance.  According to the criminal complaint, a Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to a rural Gonvick residence around 5:30am December 5 for a reported domestic assault in progress.  The victim had left the residence and called for help.  The Deputy found Robinson walking north on County Road 2.  The victim told law enforcement that Robinson had thrown a table saw at her head and hit her and her service dog with an axe handle.  She then said Robinson strangled her multiple times and threatened to kill her and her dog.  Deputies found blood throughout the residence.  Robinson was asked to take a urine sample and it tested positive for meth.  Robinson is currently on probation for a 2023 assault in Crow Wing County.
