Goose River Golf Club in Hillsboro Back Open After Spring Flooding
Hillsboro, ND — More than a month behind schedule, but the clubs are finally swinging at the Goose River Golf Club in Hillsboro. The course opened for the first time on Monday after dealing with weeks of flooding issues from nearby Goose River. Club President Ryan Opdahl says they’re excited to be back open considering roughly half of the course had been underwater at some point this spring.
This year’s late May opening date is a stark contrast compared to last year, when they opened for the season about two months earlier in late March. Despite the flooding and the late start, Opdahl says the course held up very well over the winter and is in pretty good shape, but there are a few hazards and things to look out for.
Overall Opdahl is very excited about the future of the Goose River Golf Club. Membership grew by more than 30% this past year, which he believes is because they offer a great place to play with favorable membership options for new and out of town golfers.
