Gophers Fall To Iowa 31-14
MINNEAPOLIS, MN—On Saturday, the Minnesota Gophers dropped a 31-14 decision to Iowa at Huntington Bank Stadium…and in the process handed the traveling trophy Floyd of Rosedale back to the Hawkeyes. The Gophers led 14-7 at halftime as Max Brosmer threw touchdown passes to Jameson Geers and Elijah Spencer. Spencer hurdled an Iowa defender to get into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown. Brosmer talks about what it means having receivers who will go to great lengths for the team.
The second half was an entirely different matter as Iowa blanked the Gophers 24-0 and in Coach PJ Fleck’s words, the Gophers “didn’t execute in the second half.” Someone who did execute was Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson, who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
Minnesota is now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten. The schedule doesn’t get easier for the Gophers; they travel to 12th ranked Michigan this Saturday. It’s an 11am kickoff on Gold 101.5, KRJM.
