Harvest Safety Reminders
The 2024 Fall Harvest is in full swing and Minnesota roads are packed with farm equipment. Fosston Police Chief Phil Juve reminds drivers to be patient and give room to operators when sharing the road with farm equipment.
With the sugarbeet harvest set to begin any day now Juve says that semi drivers hauling sugarbeets should make sure they are getting appropriate rest to minimize potential accidents.
Juve says there are also things motorists should also consider with the influx of semi truck traffic.
Since 2021 the Minnesota Department of Transportation has reported over 440 crashes involving farm equipment on Minnesota roads, which have resulted in eight deaths, and over 170 injuries.
