Hatton Grain Elevator Fire Update

HATTON, ND—A grain elevator fire in Hatton has burned through the night and is pretty much contained.  Traill County Emergency Management tells R&J News fire crews left the scene around 3:30 this morning … .with a fire truck on standby if the smoldering ashes start to re-ignite.  The fire started around 3pm Wednesday at Anchor Ingredients in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue East in Hatton.  The fire started in the wheat bins and produced heavy smoke.  Two wheat bins next to each other were affected.  The first wheat bin had a continued collapse before the fire spread to the second wheat bin.  Workers were present when the fire started, but no one was injured.  First responders from several agencies came to the scene, including Hillsboro, Larimore and Mayville plus the Traill County Sheriff’s Office.
