Hawley FFA Hosting a Fishing Derby this Saturday

Hawley, MN — The Hawley FFA program is sponsoring their 22nd annual Fishing Derby this Saturday, January 29th from 10am until 3pm on Sand Lake, or Stump Lake as its more commonly known. Its open to be youth and adults and is great way to support the FFA, according to Hawley High School Principal Kelly Anderson.

Largest fish will take home $30 and a plaque, followed by $20 and $15 for the rest of the top 3. Highest total weight will cash in $25 and a plaque, followed by $20 for the second most weight. A surprise prize will also be given for the smallest fish.

Permanent fish house, spearing houses, and tip ups may all be used as well.

Lunch will be provided, and door prizes will be awarded at the end of the derby. Minnows and wax worms will also be available.  

Sand Lake is located approximately 3 ½ miles east of Highway 32 and one mile south of Highway 10 on County Road 118.
