Hawley police chief retiring after 9 years
After serving 9 years as the police chief of Hawley, Joe Backlund announced that he will be retiring from law enforcement next March. Hawley City Administrator Lonnie Neuner says they’re sad to see Chief Backlund go, but are thankful for his many years of service, and dedication to the community.
Neuner says the City Council will be starting the search for Backlund’s replacement right away, and he tells us what a search could look like.
Backlund has been the Chief of Police of Hawley for 9 years, and a law enforcement officer for over 30 years.
