Highway 9 Flooding South Of Ada

A stretch of Highway 9 south of Ada is closed due to flooding.  The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Highway 9 is closed between 170th Avenue and 190th Avenue near the Wild Rice River; that’s one to three miles south of Ada.  That part of Highway 9 is closed until further notice.

Norman County Emergency Manager Garry Johanson has the latest on road conditions in Norman County.

Johanson says you can find updates on road closings in Norman County through the County’s website.

And in Mahnomen County, Highway 59 has flooding south of Bejou between County Roads T184 and T41. That stretch of 59 is not closed, but you’re asked to drive with extreme caution.

Checking flood stages in the region…as of 9:00 this morning:

The Wild Rice River at Twin Valley is at 12 feet–two feet above flood stage.  And it’s expected to rise another foot by 7:00 tonight.

Over in Hendrum, the Wild Rice River has jumped to almost 11 feet…with flood stage at 20 feet. It’s expected to reach flood stage Saturday morning…and won’t peak until next Thursday at 28.3 feet.

In Halstad, the Red River has risen to just over 11 feet..with flood stage at 26 feet.

The Marsh River near Shelly is at 4.18 feet with flood stage at 14 feet.  It’s expected to reach flood stage Sunday evening and peak at 16 feet Monday afternoon.

As for the Buffalo River…it’s at 14.2 feet near Dilworth…that’s a foot above flood stage.  The peak is expected to come Monday at 24 feet and is forecast to stay above 20 feet through next Friday.   And the Buffalo River near Hawley is just above flood stage now at 8.3 feet and is forecast to peak at ten feet Saturday afternoon.
