Hill City 3rd Grade places 1st in ‘Read to the Final Four’ program

(Minneapolis) — The Hill City 3rd Grade Class received national recognition for their efforts in the classroom with the ‘Read to the Final Four’ and finished 1st among the Top 68 schools that participated in the program.
The NCAA, Women’s Final Four, and the Minnesota Local Organizing Committee teamed together to help third graders from across the state develop their abilities as part of a nine-week program designed to leave a lasting impact on students throughout Minnesota.
Hill City’s Third Grade Class was at the top of the Group of 68, the Round of 32, Sweet 16, Elite 8, before winning a trip to this past weekend’s Final Four at the Target Center in Minneapolis. As part of the total of 15,272,042 minutes logged for all schools that participated, Hill City Schools was awarded $5,000 in books for the school’s library as the grand prize. This year, students were able to read both physical and online books and record their minutes in their own Read to the Final Four Reading Log. The challenge was open January 10 and concluded on March 14 and no school will ever be eliminated. Much more information can be found with this story and also on the Hill City School’s Facebook page.
