The Traill County Arts Coalition and Hillsboro Arts House are teaming up to honor the late John C. Pederson’s artwork following his passing in 2025 by filling the Arts House with nearly 150 of Pederson’s paintings. Pederson was a self-taught artist for most of his adult life, starting as an artist in the army for several years, then working for Fargo Engraving in advertising and graphics before settling down in Hillsboro where he gave art lessons for a time.

Pederson kept to himself for the most part but always kept himself busy painting in phases, learning certain techniques and mastering them over several works. Eric Johnson from the Traill County Arts Coalition explains how the Arts House received the paintings and what the community can do to get involved.

Community members are invited to visit the house on 409 East Caledonia Avenue in Hillsboro through October 18th to bid on silent auction items that range from aviation and fighter jets to civil war figures and farmland.

To schedule a time to see the paintings or make a bid on an item, call Eric Johnson at 701-799-6518.
