Hillsboro City Commission approves utility rate increases 

The Hillsboro City Commission approved an increase in their utility rates at their meeting earlier this week. Hillsboro City Auditor Casey Eggermont says one of the utilities that will be seeing an increase is the electrical rate, and she explains why. 

Eggermont says water and garbage rates will also be seeing an increase. 

As for other items on the meeting’s agenda, Eggermont says there was also a discussion about the Senate Bill 2027 Floodplain Ordinance, and she explains what this was about. 

Other items from the meeting included commission reports and the approval of an updated city employee handbook.
