Hillsboro Public Schools Hoping to Keep Positive Culture Despite Budget Cuts
The Hillsboro Public School Board met in regular session Thursday.
Superintendent Jon Dryburgh reported some good news regarding additional revenue in the form of state funding, donations, and grants.
Dryburgh informed the board that the district received over $225,000 in additional per-pupil funding and an additional $12,000 in state transportation funding. Drybrugh explains that this additional revenue will boost the carryover rather than lowering the budget cutback amount of approximately $500,000.
With that additional revenue, the board also approved a budget adjustment, allocating just over $33,500 to teacher salaries and benefits for the district’s Spruce Lane Colony.
Dryburgh shares some additional good news on donations and grants.
Dryburgh says he hopes these upcoming tough decisions don’t damage what he feels is a positive culture.
The board scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday, January 15th at 7pm in the high school library. The board intends to deliver their decisions on the cutbacks during this meeting.
