HILLSBORO, ND—About 20 people attended a public forum in Hillsboro Tuesday night about the April 22 election to raise the mil levy by 12 mils over the next ten years.  Hillsboro Superintendent Jon Dryburgh explained how a combination of decreased state revenue and higher expenses put the school district in a position where it had to cut around $371,000 for the 2025-26 school year. The proposed mil levy increase would bring in an extra $300,000 each school year.  Dryburgh tells R&J News his opinion of the forum.

Most of those attending Tuesday’s forum appeared to favor the referendum.  Was Dryburgh concerned about the lack of pushback?

The Hillsboro school levy referendum will take place April 22.
