Hillsboro Schools Fall Food Drive Back on the Table
Just in time for the holiday season, Hillsboro Public Schools is bringing back a pre-COVID tradition: holding a fall food drive.
Third Grade Teacher, and food drive spokesperson, Kael Elliot tells R & J News the drive started off slow but she’s hoping the kids will be more eager to participate after an assembly today.
Elliot says that while there’s no physical incentive or prize for students to participate in the food drive, she’s hoping to help instill more intrinsic values.
Elliot also says this is a great learning experience for students who may be unfamiliar with giving back in this manner.
Elliot encourages the community to get involved in the food drive by directly contributing to the Kiwanis Food Pantry. You can also donate at the school by dropping off items at the office. Items most in need include: rice, pasta, canned soup, boxed cereal, peanut butter, and canned veggies. The food drive runs through November 30th.
