Hillsboro utility rates rising in 2026 

The Hillsboro City Commission had a discussion about a potential art project involving the train caboose in the city’s rail park. Hillsboro City Auditor Casey Eggermont tells us more. 

Eggermont says the commission also had further discussions about increasing the city’s utility rates, and she tells us what will be increasing for residents. 

Other items from Monday’s meeting included the approval of a local event permit, and a city hall cleaning bid. The City of Hillsboro also reminds residents that city hall will be closed on December 25 and January 1, and closing at noon on December 24 and 31.
