In International Falls, the Broncos Boys hockey team played the first game of Saturday’s home doubleheader where they would face off with Kittson County Central. The Broncos would beat the Bearcats 7-5 being led by Anthony Yerxa’s 4 goals and Carter Thompson would have 3 assists in the home victory. I got to speak with Anthony Yerxa after the game about how the team was feeling.

What has been the biggest contributor to the Broncos 3-0 start to the season?

The Broncos now prepare for Park Rapids Area tomorrow night, and Anthony Yerxa was asked how they’ll prepare for a busy week.

Another game scheduled for this week is the Broncos first Border Battle of the season against Fort Frances.

And what’s it like playing on the same team as his brother William Yerxa?

Finally, he was asked about holiday wishes and the feeling about the upcoming first ever Winternational Falls Hockey Tournament.

The Broncos play Park Rapids tomorrow night at 6pm.

Following the Boys, the Broncos Girls Hockey team played their Ugly Sweater game against Superior. Sadly, the Broncos would lose to the Spartans 9-0 after they were led by Isabella Thompson who had 2 goals and an assist. After the game I spoke with Daisy Hager, a freshman goalie on the team who had to enter the game in the first period after Mara Pelland had to leave the game due to injury. Daisy was asked how she felt going out on the ice.

How did she mentally prepare herself coming into the game?

She was then asked how long she’s been playing hockey.

So she hasn’t always played goalie?

With the team returning to the ice tonight how will she prepare for the likelihood of starting?

Daisy was asked what is her favorite part of playing goalie.

As well as what she wants for Christmas this year.

The Bronco Girls will be on the road tonight, they’re heading over to Hibbing to take on the Bluejackets for a 5pm puck drop.
