Impact of the government shutdown on Veterans Services

The Federal Government Shutdown began at midnight on October 1, as Democrats and Republicans were unable to reach an agreement to fund the government. This is expected to have major impacts on federal programs and entities. Polk County veterans Service Officer Kurt Ellefson says however, that the shutdown will have a minimal impact on his office and veterans affairs as a whole. 

In other news, Ellefson encourages everyone to break out their green light bulbs, and show support to our local veterans, as the week of Operation Green Light is fast approaching.
