Know the signs of financial scams 

Financial scams have become a regular occurrence in everyday life, and scammers are always thinking of new ways to come after your hard earned money. Carrie Dobmeyer of Mid Minnesota Credit Union in Ada says they are seeing an uptick in the amount of scams, and she tells us about the different kinds of scams that have been reported across the region. 

Dobmeyer says one of the best ways to protect yourself from scams is to know the warning signs, and she tells us some things to be on the lookout for. 

Dobmeyer says there are also scams that target social media users, by advertising other companies. 

Making sure personal documents are disposed of properly is another way to protect yourself from scams, and identity theft, and Dobmeyer says Mid Minnesota Credit Union will be holding an event to help dispose of these documents. 

If you believe you have been a victim of a scam contact your local credit union or bank immediately, and then report the scam to your local law enforcement office.
