Lakers Sweep Lumberjacks Finishing Regular Season #1

The Fort Frances Lakers are heading into the postseason with momentum after closing out the regular season with a 6-1 win over the Ironwood Lumberjacks Friday night at Ice For Kids Arena. Fort Frances finishes the regular season in first place and an impressive 23-and-1 at home, earning a first-round bye before playoff action begins in April.
The Lakers got goals from Teagan Wrolstad, Nolan Barker, Judd Pesch, Carter Peters, Ronnie Bender, and Wrolstad again, while goaltender Brady Cates stopped 36 shots in the win.
After the game, senior forward Nick Fagnilli said the team is feeling confident heading into the break.
Fort Frances bounced back in a big way after a tighter game the night before, and veteran forward Daniel Tokariwski said the Lakers wanted to finish the regular season with authority.
That home-ice edge could be huge once the playoffs begin. Defenseman Nolan Barker says being the top seed is pressure the Lakers are embracing.
And local product Pierce Gouin says the Lakers know they’ll have a target on their backs — but they’re ready for it.
The Lakers now get 10 days off before beginning their playoff run in April.
Prior to Saturday’s game, the Lakers had honored their senior players: Nolan Barker, Nick Fagnilli, Justin Gelderland, Pierce Gouin, Bradyn Roswell, and Daniel Tokariwski.
