LBF Vikings: Football Preseason Preview
The 2024-2025 Fall sports season over at Littlefork-Big Falls High will mark the second year in a row that Vikings football has returned to the community. The team is coming off a successful 23-24 season where they finished with a 8-2 first season back, with their only losses coming from Cherry in the regular season and the playoffs. Now the team is gearing up for season 2 “Still Back!” where I got to talk to some of the captains, Levi Thydeen(ATH), Anthony Boorman(FB), Dominic Juen(OL/DT), and AJ Knaeble(RB/LB) about what the expectations are for this offseason.
I then asked them about both personal and team goals for the season.
What are the games they are most looking forward to?
They then talked about what will be some of the keys to success for this new season.
The captains also talked about the guys on the team who will have a big role on the team.
I also included Coach Dave Westerman in the interview where he gave a rundown on what’s to come this summer.
As the upper-classmen, I then asked how they hope to lead the team.
So what’s does it mean to finally have Vikings football in town?
I continued talking to Coach Westerman where the conversation led to me asking about him and Coach Juen who make up the entire coaching staff. That’s right, just the two of them.
He then explains the philosophy he wishes to coach with this fall season.
I also asked about the goals he has for the team.
There’s also a lot of emphasis on the offseason work which can mean traveling out of state to sports camps.
But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any struggles to face as every season sees seniors leave in the end.
Coach Westerman emphasized some more on the work in the offseason.
I also liked his answer for some games he looks forward to when fall comes around.
When the season does begin, here’s his approach to that game 1.
As coach Westerman mentioned, week 0 for the Vikings will be against North Woods where they get to brush off the cobwebs. Then they’ll be playing Bigfork on August 8th for week 1 in the “Battle for the Paddle” kickoff for that game is at 7pm.
