Leiting Trial Update

Attorneys for both sides in the lawsuit between the City of Fertile and Angie Leiting, the former administrator of the City-owned Fair Meadow Nursing Home, have agreed on timelines for factual discovery and mediation.  Factual discovery will now go on until May 9; while the deadline for mediation has been extended from May 16 to June 10.  The City of Fertile has asked for more time to respond to Leiting’s discovery requests; and Leiting’s attorneys are awaiting response to third party subpoenas. 

Leiting is suing the City of Fertile, Fair Meadow Nursing Home and former Mayor Dan Wilkens for being unfairly fired from her job as nursing home administrator and for violating Minnesota’s open meeting law four times.  The jury trial is scheduled to begin October 27.
