Local Crop  Update 

The sugarbeet harvest is officially underway across the Red River Valley, and while the quality of the crop varies across the region, some producers are reporting a disappointing crop. Dave Steen who farms in Norman County says this is one of the worst sugarbeet crops he has seen. 

The 2026 wheat harvest has wrapped up, and Steen says this year’s wheat crop saw much better results than the sugarbeet crop. 

When it comes to the soybean crop, Steen says the crop did not get nearly enough water, which is having a noticeable effect on the crop. 

As for the corn crop, Steen says area producers are facing many issues with it.
