Mahnomen City Council Discusses Budget and Levy for 2023
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their 2nd monthly meeting on Monday night, September 19th and it was also the 2nd meeting for new City Administrator Taylor Vonderharr, who took over for former Administrator Kari Kirschbaum at the beginning of the month. Vonderharr says she’s starting to settle in and looking forward to her new role with the city of Mahnomen.
As usual in September, the council approved setting the preliminary levy. Vonderharr says they’ve tentatively set an increase of 10% to help cover costs of their future capital projects.
One of those projects is the continuation of their water/sewer project for which they approved a $1.85 million bond at this week’s meeting as well. Earlier this month the council also approved a wage scale for next year with a scheduled 6% increase.
Also prior to the regular meeting, the Mahnomen City Council met with representatives from the White Earth Tribal Police Department to meet with new leaders and discuss department happenings.
And Vonderharr reminds folks that the Mahnomen City Hall offices have moved temporarily while the remodeling project continues.
Residents can still dial the same phone number to contact city hall and use the same drop box for payments.
