MAHNOMEN, MN—On Monday night, the Mahnomen City Council approved a contract with the St. Paul-based law firm Flaherty and Hood for lobbying at the State Capitol.  The firm will lobby on Mahnomen’s behalf for improvements to the Mahnomen Hospital to be included in this year’s bonding bill.  Mahnomen City Administrator Taylor Guenther tells us more.

The City Council also heard an update on the city’s water treatment plant and the need for new filters.

It was suggested that to rehabilitate the plant’s filters would cost around $700,000.  And it would take at least five years to get a new water treatment built…not to mention more money.

The Mahnomen City Council also approved applying for a block grant for an energy audit of the City’s owned buildings.
