Mahnomen City Council News & Notes from October 17th Meeting
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their 2nd regular monthly meeting this past Monday, October 17th at the Mahnomen Fire Hall. At the meeting, the council officially approved a resolution to sell a parcel of land to the Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation for $2. Mahnomen City Administrator Taylor Vonderharr says MMCDC will be using that land to build some much-needed new housing in the city.
The city of Mahnomen was also recently approached by Ottertail Power to purchase an old city garage on East Washington Ave. Administrator Vonderharr says they agreed to sell the lot to Ottertail for $16,500, who will tear down the existing structure.
And the city council also went into a closed session at the meeting to discuss a land purchase as the city themselves is looking into purchasing and demolishing a dilapidated property from a private citizen.
Mahnomen residents may also notice this week a drop in water pressure as the water tower is down for cleaning. Residents are asked to be conservative with their water use until further notice.
