Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, January 10th. At the meeting, the board approved an update to their COVID mitigation measures to reflect the latest CDC guidance. Mahnomen Superintendent Jeff Bisek says they are shortening the isolation period for positive tests, but still strongly encouraging staff and students to wear masks.

The Mahnomen School District also falls under the new Federal vaccine mandate that states those with over 100 employees must require employees to be vaccinated or test weekly, according to Bisek.

On Monday night the school board approved a resolution of support for the Federal government to adequately fund special education, which Bisek notes is something they have failed to do.

And Superintendent Bisek reminds community members that next month on February 8th, the Mahnomen School District is hosting a special election to approve a $4.5 million building referendum.

A public forum for the building project is scheduled for January 24th from 7-8pm at the Mahnomen Cafeteria. More information can be found online at www.mahnomen.k12.mn.us.
