Managing farm operations in relation to weather

March 20, 2026 Farm News News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

As much as they’d like to, farmers can’t control the weather, but that doesn’t mean they can’t manage their farm in relation to the weather. NDWAN Director & Climatologist Daryl Ritchison says growers across the Red River Valley have many resources available to them through NDAWN, that could help them manage their operation.

Ritchison says NDAWN is always working on adding more resources, including the building of new weather stations in Minnesota, and the White Mold Forecast Tool, which was rolled out last year.

Ritchison says that one mistake he often sees producers with larger operations make, is that they only utilize a single weather station, even if there’s another station nearby.
