(McGregor, MN) — The McGregor School Board meeting from Monday, March 28th focused talks early on the High School Fitness Center and the Activity Bus from the High School Library.

Early in the meeting, Brian Lonquist from Nexus Solutions gave a Referendum Building Project update which hit a milestone.

After many comments from the public voicing their support of the Fitness Center, District Business Manager Shauna Dalchow opened talks of the financial concerns keeping it open.

Dalchow noted the Fitness Center is losing about $20,000 a year for the District. Talks on equipment and supplies costs led to the Board keeping the Fitness Center open for the Community and Staff and Students, while coming up with funding for the future and the District’s budget.

The Board did approve the hiring of Clara Palwak as full-time elementary Paraprofessional, Andrea Juhl as Assistant Volleyball coach, and Kris Evans as part-time preschool paraprofessional. Evans’ position is for the rest of the current school year.

Superintendent and Elementary Principal Brad Johnson, in his Report, spoke of joining with area Superintendents on speaking with State Legislators in the near future.

Johnson noted that the upcoming school year will make some adjustments with Elementary staff to bring test scores.

Johnson, on the topics of the Activity Bus and the fiscal complications that go with it, may or may not be back after the current school year.

The Board made no official decision on removing the Activity Bus. A full recording of the Meeting from March 28th is available here:
