Mental Health For Student-Athletes
R&J News continues to look at mental health during Mental Health Awareness Month. Jay Paterno, author of a new book titled “Blitzed!: The All-Out Pressure of College Football’s New Era”, says college athletic programs are getting better at making mental health resources available to male and female athletes. It’s just a matter of getting the athletes to use those resources.
A 2022 study showed that 92 percent of athletic staff reported they don’t have–but want– psychiatric services in their athletic programs to support students.
