Minnesota Individual Income Tax filing season opens
The Minnesota Department of Revenue opened the state Individual Income Tax filing season yesterday, which allows people to start filing for their 2023 tax returns.
With tax season opening the Minnesota Department of Revenue reminds you about the Minnesota Child Tax Credit. This credit gives you a $1,750 credit per qualifying child, with no limit on the number of children claimed. This credit is refundable which means you can receive a refund even if you do not owe tax. To receive this credit you must file a 2023 individual income tax return in order to claim the credit. To learn more go to www.revenue.state.mn.us.
The MN Department of Revenue also reminds filers about some tools available to them including direct deposit, and refund tracking. Direct deposit is available whether you file your return electronically or by mail and will deposit your return directly into your bank account instead of sending through the mail. You can also track the status of your refund by using the Where’s My Refund tool. This tool allows you to track which of the four stages your refund is in as well as checking to see if you need to take any action. This tool is also available on the Department of revenue website at www.revenue.state.mn.us.
The Minnesota Tax season has many deadlines that coincides with the federal tax season.
