The 2023/2024 winter season was much more mild than it usually is for the state of Minnesota and Minnesota DNR Northwest Area Wildlife Supervisor Rob Baden expects this to heavily impact the Minnesota wildlife population. Baden says that many wildlife species will benefit from the mild winter, but some of the predatory species have taken a hit.

Baden says this winter should lead to higher survival rates for young wildlife and encourages people to leave young animals alone this spring.
