ND Highway Patrol Sobriety Checkpoint Results
Last Saturday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Cass County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint on I-29 at the southbound exit at mile marker 60. During the checkpoint between 5 and 7:30pm, a thousand vehicles went through the checkpoint. 13 drivers were screened for impairment, which led to two DUI arrests Four drug related citations were also issued: two for possessing marijuana and two for marijuana paraphernalia. There was also a driver that stopped on the off-ramp and tried to back their way off the off-ramp. The driver, who had an instructional permit as opposed to a license, was cited for limitations on backing, and stopping where prohibited.
After the checkpoint, the Highway Patrol conducted saturation patrols in the area. There were four DUI arrests, one DUI refusal arrest, three arrests for driving under suspension, two drug citations, four driving without insurance citations, two seat belt citations, two driving texting citations and three driving without a license citations issued.
