ND Lawmakers Consider Special Session

BISMARCK, ND—North Dakota Republican lawmakers are considering calling a special session to deal with two issues. One item the special session would cover is banning the sale of kratom.  It’s an herbal substance that is said to be a stimulant, like caffeine, and something used to manage pain.  But the Food & Drug Administration says they have no scientific evidence that supports using kratom for medicinal purposes.  The other subject is North Dakota’s Military Gallery. Construction on the gallery has been halted because of a budget shortfall.  Republican lawmakers will discuss calling for a special session during a videoconference on Sunday.  North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong’s office has not commented on calling a special session.
