New Police Chief in Hawley 

There’s a new Police Chief in the City of Hawley. After almost a decade on the job Hawley Police Chief Joe Backlund has retired. Stepping into Backlund’s position is a familiar face, as the City of Hawley decided to promote within, and hired School Resource Officer Scott Steer. Chief Steer tells us more about his law enforcement background, and why he wanted to become Chief. 

Chief Steer also tells us some of his personal and department goals moving forward. 

With Steer now moving into the Chief position, Hawley will be without a full time School Resource Officer. Steer says he hopes to continue the SRO program.

Finally, Steer thanked the communities for supporting their local law enforcement. He also encouraged residents to approach their local officer, and get to know them.
