Norman County Commission Update 

The Norman County Commission had discussions about the Shelly Grain Elevator Fire, at their meeting last Thursday. Norman County Commission Chairman Steve Jacobson tells us more about what was discussed. 

Jacobson says there were also miscellaneous discussions about an assortment of items including road and bridge projects, and the Frost Fire Trail project. 

September is also a time where government entities work on their budgets and levies for 2026, and Jacobson says the Commission will be holding a special meeting later this month to certify their preliminary levy. 

Lastly, Jacobson provided an update on the building of a new Highway Department, which was approved by the Commission earlier this month.  

Other items from Thursday’s meeting included an update from Norman County Social Services who recently hired a new social worker, and a discussion regarding the possibility of adding two new positions at the Norman County Sheriff’s Office.
